Flavorful Orange Chicken!

Serves 4-6


Ingredients:

1. Chicken Breast (cut into bite sizes) or Chicken Thighs (best results) - 2 Ibs.

2. 1 Egg White or whole egg

3. Flour - 1/2 cup

4. Corn Starch - 1/3 cup

5. Garlic - minced 1 clove

6. Salt and Pepper to taste (approx. 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp respectively)

7. Oil for frying - 1 cup



Orange Sauce:

  1. Vinegar or lemon juice - 1/2 cup

  2. Soy Sauce - 1/2 cup

  3. Garlic - 1 tsp chopped minced garlic

  4. Crushed Red Pepper Flakes - 1/2 - 1 tsp (as per taste)

  5. Orange Juice - 1/2 cup

  6. Ginger - cut into thin julienne 1 tsp

  7. Orange Zest - 1 Tbsp or Lemon Zest (either or)

  8. Honey - 4-6 2 Tbsp

  9. Sesame oil - 3-4 drops

  10. 2-3 tsp of Corn Starch and water mixed together to make the slurry

  11. Sesame Seeds (optional)

  12. Green onion (green part only) 2 Tbsp chopped

Method:

  1. Marinate chicken pieces with salt/pepper and garlic.

  2. Add 1 whole egg or egg white, 1/2 cup flour, 1/3 cup corn starch. Mix together, set aside

  3. Heat oil on medium fry well coated chicken pieces till golden brown.

  4. Spread on cookie sheet

  5. Prepare the sauce: In a pan, add a tbsp of olive oil on a medium high heat

  6. Add chopped garlic, vinegar, soya sauce, orange juice, ginger, crushed red pepper flakes, orange zest, and honey.

  7. Cook for a few minutes

  8. Add corn starch and water slurry, add slowly, keep stirring vigorously otherwise it will be a lumpy mess, add water as needed to make it like a sauce consistency.

  9. Add sesame oil

  10. Add fried chicken pieces, mix well until all the pieces are well coated. you can add a little water if the sauce seems thick.

  11. Sprinkle sesame seeds, and chopped green onion

  12. Serve with garlic fried rice
